Dear Reader,
It was the reversal to beat all reversals. It started with a litany of complaints on day one...and ended with the purchase of the most expensive property in the community on day four. What exactly had happened in between to cause this turnaround?
I met the couple (let's call them Mr. and Mrs. Smith) on the first day of a chill weekend trip in Costa Rica's Southern Zone. I love this place. It's so beautiful here....mountainous and rugged, emerald-green, verdant...mile after mile of steep tree-covered peaks and ridges, and mile after mile of unspoiled sandy beaches. It feels as if you've stumbled on a secret, hidden wonderland. So I was surprised when the Smiths declared that they plain didn't like it.
When pressed, they weren't terribly specific. The landscape was nothing like the landscape back home, they said. The landscape...well, in my book it was stunning. The climate was different too, they added. It was more humid in the Southern Zone than the desert-like aridity back home. Well, that's why it's so green and lush here, I pointed out. Give it a few days, I suggested, it's only a four day trip. If you still hate it, well, at least you can cross it off your shortlist of second-home destinations.
Next thing I heard, the Smiths had bought the most expensive property in the community. They had decided not to buy a lot and build a custom house...because they couldn't wait to start spending time in the Southern Zone. I'd love to claim the credit for their turnaround. But as I left shortly after my brief conversation with them, I figured that the Southern Zone itself had worked its charms on them...
The Smiths had gotten to know the area better during their four-day trip. They'd spent time on the pristine sandy beaches and coves...seen the vast forests (parks and reserves cover two-thirds of the land here)...admired the elevated setting with its panoramic ocean views, refreshing breezes, and majestic sunsets.
This place isn't as well-known as other parts of Costa Rica. It was really tough getting here. But in January last year, the new coastal highway opened up. You can now drive from Costa Rica's capital, San Jose, to the Southern Zone, in three hours...three smooth, easy, comfortable hours. The road opening triggered a surge of interest in the Southern Zone. No wonder...property prices here had stayed low because of the poor access. This place has huge potential. No doubt that appealed to the Smiths, too.
Over those four days, the Smiths dined on fresh, local food. Realized that moving here might mean no McDonalds or Starbucks...but you can get an espresso, a meal in an Asian or French or Italian restaurant, smokehouse chicken, and award-winning cheese and wine, from the little local mom'n'pop stores, cafes and restaurants.
And the Smiths had seen the best development in the Southern Zone. Established in 1989, with 150 homes already built or under construction, the Pacific Lots community is one of the reasons you'll find so many eateries in the area.
You can custom build a home in Pacific Lots...with hardwood kitchens, wrought-iron balconies and windows and doors made in Pacific Lots' own workshops. The Smiths purchased a resale...and what a beauty. The home's open-plan layout feels bright, airy and spacious, down a secluded private driveway. The swimming pool is deep and sparkling. But it's the impressive views that steal the show...sweeping down across the forest and out to the blue, blue ocean. That probably was the final plus point that sealed the deal for the Smiths...
If you want to see why this location sells itself, you can go on a four-day trip, just like the one that the Smiths enjoyed, for $250. Just book your flight to San Jose...arrive at the airport...and the Pacific Lots team will take over from there. You don't have to worry about transport, accommodation, or meals...that's all taken care of. You get to sit back, relax...and enjoy the adventure.
Contact the Pacific Lots team here today to book your place. Don't take too long thinking about it, though. These trips are hugely popular and sell out fast. Lock down your place today here.

P.S. As you can see from the Smiths' experience, four days is plenty of time to get a feel for the Southern Zone...and decide if it's right for you. Even though the Smiths opted for a resale property, you can buy a lot in Pacific Lots from $40,000, and custom-build your own home, with no timeframe on when you have to build. Contact Pacific Lots here to find out more....and book your trip.
