Bargains in Belize, For Seven Readers Only

Orchid Bay is located in Corozal, one of the AARP's top retirement destinations

Dear Reader,

If you are considering living, investing or retiring overseas, Belize should be on your shortlist. It has some of the lowest real estate values in the Caribbean. And today's offer makes it even more affordable...

Belize is a country of great natural beauty, with reef, rainforest, and ruins. Unspoiled white-sand beaches wrap around a lush interior of savannah and forest. Thick jungle hides immense Mayan ruins, secretive jaguars and scarlet macaws. Below the sun-dappled waters of the Caribbean, the world's second-largest coral reef teems with colorful marine life.

With pirate, slave, and conquistador ancestors, the locals are friendly, and quirky. And because Belize is English-speaking, you can throw away the dictionary...and start making friends as soon as you get here.

Belize is close to the US. Flights from many locations in the US to Belize only take 2-3 hours.

There's a generous retiree program (and you don't have to be retirement age to take part). You only need to prove that you are 45 years or older, and that you have an income of at least $2000 a month. You'll pay no Belizean tax on that income...you can still take advantage of offshore banking (even while you live in Belize)...and you can import your household goods tax-free.

No wonder the AARP ranked Belize's northern district of Corozal as one of the best places to retire in 2010...

This is the quintessential Caribbean: white sand beach and sparkling turquoise water. But this Caribbean is different. It comes without the high price tag...

Corozal Steps into the Limelight

Five years ago, most Belize guidebooks covered Corozal in a few short paragraphs. Sure, it had breakers, a fragrant sea breeze, and a Caribbean flavor--but not much else. One real estate developer had a vision of a private community in Corozal, with walkable streets, restaurants, a beach club, and a sociable group of neighbors. Today, that vision is taking shape, at Orchid Bay.

Five years ago, heavy machinery was cutting the roads and installing utilities...not a pretty sight. Fast forward, and the community has two sandy beaches (a second white-sand beach is almost finished, in addition to the existing beach and dock). The first group of owners is expected to move into the 24 beachfront casitas (little houses) at the end of 2010. This casita neighborhood anchors the Black Orchid restaurant and bar, due to open in January 2011. Homes and condos are under construction. Orchid Bay's come a long way in the last five years.

Orchid Bay is perfectly placed to take advantage of Corozal's tranquility. It feels wonderfully isolated, but is only twenty minutes from the bustling city of Chetumal. You can head to Chetumal when you want shopping malls, supermarkets, cinemas, hospitals and clinics...and then escape back to the peace and quiet of Orchid Bay...relaxing in a hammock, or hanging out with friends (and a chilled beer or two) at the beachside bar.

Interest-Free Finance and a Discount

Prices are set to rise in the coming months as more residents move in. But right now, you can buy a lot in Orchid Bay for $59,000...and take advantage of generous developer financing...and a discount.

Here's how the deal works out. You reserve your lot with $1000 down. You have thirty days to decide if you want to go ahead. If you do, you pay an additional $9,000. Then you have 48 monthly payments of $975 a month, interest-free. That works out to $46,800. The difference is a $2200 discount...bringing the price of the lot down to $56,800.

What Next?

This is a good deal. It's difficult to get bank financing in Belize. If you did manage to get it, you could pay up to 12% interest. These lots come with interest-free developer financing.

This deal is only valid until December 31, 2010...and there are only seven of these lots available. So contact the developer today to find out more, or to reserve your lot.

Pathfinder is in the business of recommending a wide range of real estate and relocation services from developers and lawyers to real estate agents and tax specialists, to name but a few. Pathfinder requires developers to meet basic criteria before bringing them to you. However, any vetting we do on projects or professionals should not be construed as a guarantee by Pathfinder. Remember, the value of your real estate purchase can go down as well as up; there are no guarantees that property values will rise.

Pathfinder is not responsible for the management or delivery of chill weekends. We bring these to you for informational purposes on behalf of our developer and broker partners. As with any other overseas trip, we advise that you purchase travel insurance. We always recommend strongly that buyers perform their own complete due diligence, use a qualified legal professional to help with real estate transactions and purchase title insurance. Should a reader decide to purchase a property from one of the developers/real estate agents Pathfinder covers, Pathfinder will receive a fee from the developer or real estate agent.
