Check Out This Beach House for $130,000

Wednesday, November 17, 2010

Dear Reader,

Last week, I told you about a beach home on Ecuador’s south Pacific coast for $189,000. We got many inquiries about the property, and we also got an e-mail from another broker contact in the same area. She said she had a beach home too, a lower priced one, at $130,000. I asked her to send me the details, so I could send them along to you. She sent me something better…a video of the house.

Now, $130,000 might not buy you much if you’re looking in California. But this is Ecuador’s south Pacific coast, and $130,000 gets you a lot more house for your money. Just check out the video here, and you’ll see what you can buy for $130,000.

This house is in Punta Blanca. It’s just over two hours from the international airport at Guayaquil, on a good, paved road. It’s fifteen minutes north of Salinas, a growing city with hospitals, restaurants, supermarkets, banks, and nightclubs. Salinas also has two yacht clubs, and is a starting point for sailors on round-the-world trips. This is a prime spot for deep-sea fishing, too (Ernest Hemingway and Harry Truman fished here). This section of coast has warm weather year-round, with low humidity…perfect beach weather.

Punta Blanca has more than three miles of soft sand beach, washed by the calm, deep-blue ocean. Those calm waters make it a great swimming beach. The town also has a water park, with restaurants, a spa, and a disco. It’s a popular vacation spot for middle-class Ecuadorians, who build spacious homes here. The pace picks up in peak season (December to April), when they come to Punta Blanca to relax, and spend time with family and friends on the beach.

This ocean-view house is incredibly stylish. The centerpiece is the double-height living area, with floor to ceiling windows. This makes the living area feel bright and airy. The open plan living and dining area leads onto a wide terrace with an ocean view. Upstairs, the master bedroom has ocean views. The floors and ceilings are hardwood, along with the doors, windows, and cabinetry.

The two-thousand square foot home has four bedrooms and two and a half bathrooms. Outside, the vaulted living space gives the house a modern, striking look. The home has a swimming pool in the yard. Walk two short blocks, and you’re on the beach. As an added sweetener, most of the furnishing comes with the home, too.

So, there you have it. It might not buy much in southern California, but $130,000 gets you a beautiful home on this Pacific coast. If you’re interested in the house, contact Amy Pinoargote here, and she’ll send you more details by e-mail. Remember, this home is one of a kind, so I expect it to sell quickly. If it’s the beach home you always dreamed of, contact Amy today.

Amy’s also uncovered quite a few property bargains in and around Salinas…in tranquil little beach towns that are off the beaten track for overseas visitors and second homebuyers. If you’d like to see the Punta Blanca house…or a selection of homes and condos in this area…she’s happy to arrange a personal tour for you. Contact Amy here if you’re interested in a tour, or want her to send you some sample listings by e-mail.

Pathfinder requires developers to meet basic criteria before bringing them to you. However, any vetting we do on projects or professionals should not be construed as a guarantee by Pathfinder. Remember, the value of your real estate purchase can go down as well as up; there are no guarantees that property values will rise.

As with any other overseas trip, we advise that you purchase travel insurance. We always recommend strongly that buyers perform their own complete due diligence, use a qualified legal professional to help with real estate transactions and purchase title insurance. Should a reader decide to purchase a property from one of the developers/real estate agents Pathfinder covers, Pathfinder will receive a fee from the developer or real estate agent.
