Lake Arenal real estate
This place is stunningly beautiful –and seriously under-valued

Dear Reader,

This stunningly beautiful place has been overlooked. I can’t explain why. It’s just one of those anomalies. It’s because of this anomaly that we can buy a lake view lot in a gated community here from $19,000.

The drive from Costa Rica’s Capital San Jose is on a modern highway. It’s a scenic, interesting and smooth drive. Around the lake, the landscape’s dramatic.  There’s no traffic,  only us meandering along the lakeshore.

To the right, a thick green forest-clad hill rises steeply from the roadside.

The roar of the howler monkeys, and the posing of flamboyant brightly colored birds, remind me that I’m in Costa Rica. But, it feels like I could be in Switzerland or Italy’s Alpine lake country.

We go down a hill and through a little wooded area, and then we’re at the dock. The water is glass flat. The sun is warm on my face. The temperature a comfortable 72F. We push off. The engine exerts itself for a few seconds and then we are gliding. We leave the dock behind.

I turn…looking forward. WOW.

Directly in front of us a towering volcano coughs white steam and smoke vertically towards the heavens. It’s a jaw-dropping sight. Looking towards the horizon the blue of the lake meets the rich pastoral green of hills and fields interspersed with forest.

Looking up…and up… the volcano’s cone rises and towers against a back drop of bright blue sky. Turning…and to my right… windmills whirl and whizz on the hills. To the west is the windy side of the lake. This is the spot for wind-surfing and sailing.

Tourists come in numbers to this area to hike in the hills and soak in the hot springs. But few get as far as this charming little town and lake. The tourist trail stops 45 minutes down the road.

For no good reason. The road to get here is good and you won’t want for any modern conveniences or amenities.

A mirror flat lake whose tree-lined shores rise steeply to the cone of a towering volcano. This place is hidden, secret…yet you’re in safe and stable Costa Rica with a wealth of amenities and attractions on your doorstep.

This place is stunning, unique, and special. It’s conveniently tucked in the hills between the country’s two major international airports at San Jose and Liberia. I’m not talking about some inaccessible backwater. I’m talking about one of the world’s most beautiful and welcoming countries. And, this might just be her most prized gem.

Perched above the lakeshore, you can buy a lake-view lot from $19,000.

But, this place is only cheap on the sticker. It’s rich and luxurious in every other way. This is just one of these places that only a small number of expats have paid attention to. Until now, that is.

The community spirit is strong. Maybe that’s why they want to keep their retreat to themselves. After our day on the water I joined a group of locals and expats in the candle-lit gardens of the village’s nicest boutique hotel. This is one of their hang outs.

Friends shared finger food, drinks and a large bowl of fragrant chili.

I enjoyed their company. Great experiences were shared. In our group…a young lawyer who left the world of corporate law in California’s Bay area, an Australian ex-professional rugby player turned entrepreneur, an Israeli gourmet chef and a veteran real estate professional who relocated here from the U.S. Virgin Islands.

Stories were shared about the day’s pursuits on the water and in the hills.

This is a place for hiking, horseback-riding, bird-watching, swimming, fishing (mainly for rainbow bass) and boating. With temperatures in the high seventies almost year round the weather is perfect for an active lifestyle.

Hot springs bubble, sizzle and steam from deep within the earth’s crust. Boutique resorts offer a comfortable, restful and natural environment to soak in these nutrient-rich hot springs—a perfect way to unwind at the end of a long day hiking boating or relaxing.

As the night sky cleared, stars twinkled and high in the sky the volcano glows a fiery red. This is a special place. That’s not lost even on those that have lived here for years.

In Arenal you have a choice of value properties both within and outside of gated communities.

One that caught my eye is a private community called The Preserve. That’s where you can buy a lake-view lot from $19,000.

And members of my Real Estate Trend Alert group get an even better deal. They can take advantage of developer financing, and buy with a down payment of $1,900 and monthly payments of $143.

That’s interest-free finance for ten years.

In this video I explain how you can get in on this opportunity.

Pathfinder is in the business of recommending a wide range of real estate and relocation services from developers and lawyers to real estate agents and tax specialists, to name but a few. Pathfinder requires developers to meet basic criteria before bringing them to you. However, any vetting we do on projects or professionals should not be construed as a guarantee by Pathfinder. Remember, the value of your real estate purchase can go down as well as up; there are no guarantees that property values will rise.

Pathfinder is not responsible for the management or delivery of chill weekends. We bring these to you for informational purposes on behalf of our developer and broker partners. As with any other overseas trip, we advise that you purchase travel insurance. We always recommend strongly that buyers perform their own complete due diligence, use a qualified legal professional to help with real estate transactions and purchase title insurance. Should a reader decide to purchase a property from one of the developers/real estate agents Pathfinder covers, Pathfinder will receive a fee from the developer or real estate agent.
