Country, Beach or City- or a Little of all Three?

Saturday, September 10, 2011

Dear Reader,

I spent last week at International Living's Costa Rica conference, along with more than 250 attendees. Many of the attendees were looking for a second home in Costa Rica. They wanted country living...close to the beach...and not too far from the city. They wanted affordable property prices. It sounds like a tough call. But they can get all of that in one development, Colinas de Miramar.

We talked a lot about infrastructure upgrades at the conference. Colinas de Miramar benefited from a new highway that opened last year. It links Costa Rica's capital city, San Jose, with the port city of Caldera. Colinas is close to Caldera, and the new road cut the drive time from San Jose to Colinas in half. The drive now takes just over an hour.

So you're close enough to big-city amenities like supermarkets, malls, world-class hospitals, hardware stores, cinemas, and gourmet dining. You're also close to airports. Colinas is an hour and a half from San Jose's international airport. It's two hours from Liberia, Costa Rica's second international airport.

In Colinas de Miramar, you're away from the hustle and bustle of the city. Instead, you'll enjoy relaxed country living at its best, in a landscape of rolling hills, mountains and pastures sweeping down to the Pacific Ocean. It's a great spot for horse riding, hiking, bird watching, fishing, swimming and surfing. Plus, for golfers, there's plans for a Greg Norman course ten minutes away.

And Colinas is close to some stunning beaches. Just 15 minutes away, you can relax on the beautiful Playa Blanca beach. Colinas overlooks the Gulf of Nicoya. A short ferry ride across the Gulf brings you to some of Costa Rica's nicest beaches... where Mel Gibson, Harrison Ford and Bruce Willis hang out...

Just over a mile from Colinas is the clean, pretty village of Miramar. This little village boasts a doctor, dentist, supermarket, bank, and hardware store. You can shop at the local butcher and greengrocer in Miramar. The village bakeries, cafes and restaurants offer light snacks and hearty meals at low prices.

Situated at the base of the Tilaran Mountains, many of the lots in Colinas have panoramic ocean views, over the Gulf of Nicoya. Plans call for a community center, commercial center, swimming pool, tennis and squash courts, and a gym.

Lots are very spacious in Colinas, averaging 1.25 acres. Mountain-view lots start from $50,000, and ocean-view from $99,000. You pay 1/3 of the price down, and then have two years interest-free financing on the remainder, which is due at completion.

Unsurprisingly, a number of attendees took the developer up on his offer to visit Colinas de Miramar. It's an invitation that the developer is extending to you, too.

Just choose a lot with the developer's help. Then pay a fully refundable $2000 deposit, and you have 60 days to come and check out Colinas for yourself...for free.

Just get yourself to the airport at San Jose, and then you can sit back and relax. The Colinas team will meet you at the airport, and take you to your hotel.

Over three days, you'll explore this part of Costa Rica first-hand. You'll travel the new highway, see the Gulf of Nicoya, Miramar, the beaches...and spend time at Colinas de Miramar. The Colinas team will pick up the tab for your accommodation, airport transfers and transport.

Don't worry. There's no strings. If you don't like what you see, you can ask for your deposit back. You'll have enjoyed three days in Costa Rica, partly at someone else's expense. How bad is that?

Contact Colinas de Miramar here and they'll send you a full information package.

Pathfinder is in the business of recommending a wide range of real estate and relocation services from developers and lawyers to real estate agents and tax specialists, to name but a few. Pathfinder requires developers to meet basic criteria before bringing them to you. However, any vetting we do on projects or professionals should not be construed as a guarantee by Pathfinder. Remember, the value of your real estate purchase can go down as well as up; there are no guarantees that property values will rise.

Pathfinder is not responsible for the management or delivery of chill weekends. We bring these to you for informational purposes on behalf of our developer and broker partners. As with any other overseas trip, we advise that you purchase travel insurance. We always recommend strongly that buyers perform their own complete due diligence, use a qualified legal professional to help with real estate transactions and purchase title insurance. Should a reader decide to purchase a property from one of the developers/real estate agents Pathfinder covers, Pathfinder will receive a fee from the developer or real estate agent.
