House at Los Arboles, Tulum
This house is modern, well-equipped, and stylish…and it’s also eco-friendly

Dear Reader,

The house looked fabulous. The carefully cut stone covering the outside walls blended with the dappled light breaking through the trees around it. The large windows framed a view of rich greenness, and absolute privacy. Inside, the house felt freshly cool and airy. The hardwood cabinetry and doors, exposed stonework, and polished concrete countertops spoke of quiet, good taste, with a touch of luxury.

Yet this house is not only highly affordable—it’s also eco-friendly.

Comfort-wise, or cost-wise, you wouldn’t know. You won’t make any sacrifices here. You have hot water, electricity, and even air conditioning. Your power just happens to come from different sources.

The bright tropical sunshine charges solar panels, the breeze that sweeps over the treetops drives wind turbines, and you have a generator for back up. You’ll get piped water, but you’ll collect rainwater, too. Everything works as you’d expect…but you’re protecting this unique setting.

And when you see the setting, you’ll want to protect it. Giant limestone boulders crouch in the shade of the tight-packed trees. Huge electric-blue butterflies dance past in the morning sunshine. The breeze rustles the leaves in the trees overhead, breaking the forest’s silent stillness.

Developer Greg Schnurr wanted to create a community here, called Los Árboles Tulum. He also wanted to preserve as much of the raw, untouched forest as possible. He did a good job, taking his time, and doing things the right way. Roads branch around endangered trees. A nursery guards rare plants. Workers know that they need to respect the development’s flora and fauna.

With only 221 lots spread over 1200 acres of pristine forest, you’ll have plenty of room to stretch out in Los Árboles. You get five whole acres to yourself, in fact. You can create your own private sanctuary, hidden in the trees...knowing that you have neighbors at hand if you want company, but not close enough to see them.

A twelve minute drive from Los Árboles, you’ll find Mexico’s most gorgeous beach. The white, silky sand curves around limestone outcrops, covered with plants and foliage. Tall palms stretch upwards to the clear blue sky. The transparent waters of the Caribbean shade to bright turquoise, and finally to the deepest sapphire on the horizon. Ancient Mayan ruins keep watch over the beach, as they have for centuries.

You can enjoy a lazy morning at the beach...an afternoon exploring the Sian Ka’an biosphere next door...or a gourmet dinner in Playa del Carmen, a hip beach town nearby. Los Árboles gives you a chance to enjoy the best of both worlds. You have peaceful seclusion in a private forest, close to Mexico’s top beach, with a world of amenities close by, from golf to spas to shopping.

You’re only a two hour drive from Cancun’s international airport—but a world away from Cancun’s crazy pace and over-development.

When I said Los Árboles was affordable, I wasn’t joking. Those five acre lots cost just $75,000…and they come with financing. You pay $10,000 down, $500 a month for three years, and the remainder on completion. Build costs average $75 a square foot, and you can wait if you don’t want to build straight away.

We first told you about these lots in July. Readers liked them. They snapped them up.

Most of the lots have already sold, so you need to act fast. Contact Greg, and he’ll send you more details of Los Árboles, and what makes it so special. Then you can lock down your own five acres.

Like I said, don’t take too long…or you’ll miss out. E-mail Greg here today.

P.S. The easiest way to get the Los Árboles experience is to take part in one of their chill weekends…a mini-break that gives you a first-hand feel for the area. The next one runs January 13th-16th, 2011. For only $199, you’ll get a taste of the eco-chic lifestyle at Los Árboles …explore the biosphere…and soak up the sunshine on that postcard-perfect beach. All you need to do is reserve your spot here.

Pathfinder is in the business of recommending a wide range of real estate and relocation services from developers and lawyers to real estate agents and tax specialists, to name but a few. Pathfinder requires developers to meet basic criteria before bringing them to you. However, any vetting we do on projects or professionals should not be construed as a guarantee by Pathfinder. Remember, the value of your real estate purchase can go down as well as up; there are no guarantees that property values will rise.

Pathfinder is not responsible for the management or delivery of chill weekends. We bring these to you for informational purposes on behalf of our developer and broker partners. As with any other overseas trip, we advise that you purchase travel insurance. We always recommend strongly that buyers perform their own complete due diligence, use a qualified legal professional to help with real estate transactions and purchase title insurance. Should a reader decide to purchase a property from one of the developers/real estate agents Pathfinder covers, Pathfinder will receive a fee from the developer or real estate agent.
