Dear Reader,
I was going to write today about Coco Beach Village, Ecuador...about the community's great beachfront location, low property prices, and big upside potential. But I decided to let you hear from a couple of the owners in Coco Beach instead.
I found it hard to choose just one piece. Coco Beach owners are an enthusiastic bunch, and many have happily put pen to paper to write about their experience of buying a lot in the community, what they like about this location, and their lifestyle in Ecuador. But it's over to Ron and Patricia F., from Southern California, to explain why they bought at Coco Beach. (The "you" they refer to in this piece are the developers, Larry and Gary Swenson.)
"We absolutely love the property -- what a spectacular view! -- We look forward to the day we will live in our dream home on the beach at Coco Beach Village.
Wanting to begin our "encore careers" well before the traditional retirement age, we spent many months researching locations boasting a low cost of living. Equally important to us were living among friendly people, enjoying warm weather, and walking pristine beaches. All of our search criteria pointed to the same location: Ecuador.Exploring Ecuadorian possibilities, we soon discovered a most remarkable planned development: Coco Beach Village. The photos depicted the paradise of our dreams, and your vision of how to develop this pristine stretch of beachfront resonated with our values.
Clearly you have embraced the principles of sustainable, ethical development. As you worked to develop a beautiful eco-friendly beach community, you also worked to improve life in the neighboring fishing village, El Matal. Knowing that some developments in Central America damage the environment and negatively impact the lives of the local inhabitants, your ethical vision is most refreshing.
The moment we arrived onsite at Coco Beach Village we were sold. The raw beauty of the place is breathtaking, and your visionary planning will keep it that way: underground utilities, a minimum of 30% green space required on each lot, 1,000 coconut palms already flourishing, and no malecon (street between the beach and the homes) -- a rarity in Central and South America. Other features that impressed us include the 24-hour security, the on-site caretaker and the clubhouse area that will feature a pool, tennis courts, and casual restaurant.
We were happy to discover that the micro-climate of Coco Beach Village is absolutely perfect. Because the Humboldt and El Nino currents converge south of Coco Beach Village, the water is warmer here on the north central coast than the southern coast, and the waves are gentler (perfect for ocean kayaking and with less chance for beach erosion). There are less cloudy days at Coco Beach Village than even nearby Canoa and Bahia. Located where the wet tropical and dry tropical forests meet, the air is neither too humid nor too dry - just clean and cleansing.
Coco Beach Village offers a quiet, un-crowded, retreat-like environment rather than the noise and congestion of a city or resort, yet with proximity to shopping and medical facilities. Jama is only four miles away; less than 30 minutes away are the Jama-Coaque Reserve, Rio Muchacho Organic Farm, and the resort town of Canoa; and the eco-city of Bahia is only a 45 minute drive.
We were pleased by the carefully developed CC&Rs governing Coco Beach Village: sufficient structure to render the vision concrete, yet with ample allowance for creativity in housing design. Moreover, we appreciated Gary's laid-back, no-pressure style. He simply let Coco Beach Village speak for itself. And stateside, it has been a joy to work with Larry via email and telephone.
Sitting under palm trees sipping fresh coconut water, walking in the silky sand, discovering starfish on the beach, playing in the warm surf, visiting with friendly people in the fishing village -- yes, during our all-too-short visit we knew we had found our future home. Comparable beachfront property in Southern California would run several million dollars -- something two educators could never afford. So we pinch ourselves when we realize that we will start construction of our dream home next year; two years will find us living in paradise."
I couldn't have said it better myself.
Coco Beach Village offers lots from $53,870, and construction starts from $55 a square foot. For $125,370, you could have a 1300 square foot custom home...and that price includes the lot.
For more information on Coco Beach, contact Larry Swenson here today. Larry can help you come and see the community for yourself, too. Just let him know when you plan on visiting, and he'll help with the in-country portion of your trip.Who knows, you could be the next happy owner writing about your Coco Beach experiences!
