The World’s Best Place for Retirement

Monday, September 07, 2009

Dear Reader,

Every Saturday we send you links to videos and articles that caught our attention during the week. We call it The Saturday Round-up.

More than 4.5 million North Americans (mostly Baby Boomers) are now considering living or owning property in Latin America. Property prices will appreciate in the countries that successfully attract these baby boomers.

Ecuador came out tops this week in International Living’s 2009 Annual Retirement Index.

Ecuador has the best real estate values of any country I know. It’s one reason it was voted number one in the Retirement Index. How does a $50,000 condo on the beach sound?

This was the least accessible stretch of coast in Ecuador. That’s set to change…

Panama’s hotel lobby is on the offensive. They don’t like competition…even from us little guys. There’s trouble brewing in what was the paradise of the short-term rental market. More fuel was added to the fire this week.

Asia’s major economies are picking up. Is this being reflected in real estate markets?

Mr. and Mrs. Hong Kong prefer real estate to investments in equities.

Sales volumes in Singapore are increasing at an astonishing rate.

Vietnam is looking for its piece of the international real estate tourism pie. I like what I’m hearing out of Vietnam. I’m planning a trip to visit opportunities there firsthand, early next year.

Pathfinder is in the business of recommending a wide range of real estate and relocation services from developers and lawyers to real estate agents and tax specialists, to name but a few. Pathfinder requires developers to meet basic criteria before bringing them to you. However, any vetting we do on projects or professionals should not be construed as a guarantee by Pathfinder. Remember, the value of your real estate purchase can go down as well as up; there are no guarantees that property values will rise.

Pathfinder is not responsible for the management or delivery of chill weekends. We bring these to you for informational purposes on behalf of our developer and broker partners. As with any other overseas trip, we advise that you purchase travel insurance. We always recommend strongly that buyers perform their own complete due diligence, use a qualified legal professional to help with real estate transactions and purchase title insurance. Should a reader decide to purchase a property from one of the developers/real estate agents Pathfinder covers, Pathfinder will receive a fee from the developer or real estate agent.
