Costa Rica Caribbean beach

The beaches on Costa Rica’s Caribbean coast are stunning

Dear Reader,

You might not know this, but Costa Rica has a Caribbean coast. And, parts of it are stunning. Costa Rica’s "forgotten" province of Limon is starting to remind the world and Costa Rica what it has to offer. Today, I would like to invite you to participate in a special pre-release, with special reader discounts. You can get in with a small down-payment and monthly payments spread over 24 months.

But first let me remind you about the province of Limon.

There has been little development of the real estate and tourism markets here. It’s hard to understand why. The drive from San Jose brings you through jaw dropping virgin and protected Braulio Carrillo national park and rainforest. The coast stretches south opening up into stunning white-sand beaches.

Limon (Limon is the name of the province and also the capital city) was a company town. United Fruit managed the port, built the railroads and bridges, looked after the colonial buildings, and was the major employer.

When the company pulled out of town in the 1960s, Limon became Costa Rica’s forgotten province. When the Costa Rica tourism machine began bringing in droves of foreign visitors in the 1980s, it was the northern Pacific coast that most benefited.

This place has serious potential and two guys who recognize this potential are William Ogen and Gill Phelan. These are the guys behind the largest and most successful real estate project in the area, Grand View Estates. They also have interests in the fledgling tourism business in the area.

On my last visit, the drive to Grand View Estates from the capital San Jose took two and a half hours. We battled shoppers in San Jose and a big religious festival. With a clear run, it’s a straight 90-minute drive from San Jose to Grand View.

Grand View Estates is a 640-acre project, set deep in the Talamanca Mountains. You get magnificent views of the Caribbean and the surrounding mountains and valleys. The 1,300-foot elevation allows for fresh ocean breezes.

The site is diverse, with virgin rainforest, five rivers, two waterfalls, and gently rolling hills. The wildlife is abundant, with hundreds of bird and animal species.

On entering the property I was struck by the roads. No straight lines: We wound our way through roads that followed the contours of the land…lined with well-maintained flowers and grassed areas. Thought and work goes into these little things. That’s why they are an important reflection on the developer.

A communal pool and barbecue area with an infinity pool is complete. Nearby homes are complete and more are under construction. Buyers here plan to, or already are, spending time here. Some spend six months a year here. For others it will be a full-time home. The on-site stables can house dozens of horses.

I shared the community guest-house with a couple who were here to oversee the finishing touches on their home. It’s a stunning home…and they are tickled pink with their decision. They can’t wait to spend half the year here.

The first three phases at Grand View have already sold out. Today, we can get in on Phase 4.

The Deal

Lots in phase four start at $65,028 for 1.34 acres. But you can take advantage of a special 10% discount. That cuts the price to $58,525.

That works out to $10.80 a meter… a killer deal.

Or you can take advantage of interest-free financing. You won’t get the 10% discount…but you can pay 35% down, and spread the rest over 24 months. For the $65,028 lot, that means you pay $22,760 down and $1762 a month for 24 months. Contact the developer here for details of this finance offer.

Finally, I’d like to extend a special invitation from developer Gill Phelan to visit.

Make a fully refundable deposit on any one of these lots and Gill will host you at his expense at the project. He’ll put you up and show you the project and the surrounding area.

I’ve seen firsthand the time and attention Gill gives his visitors. I’ve also seen how—if you decide it isn’t for you—Gill will hand you your money back and you’ll part as friends. That’s why I think it’s reasonable that this invitation is limited to readers who have made a fully refundable deposit.

Gill is standing by to send you a full information pack including a list of available lots and prices.

The prices are this low because, despite its beauty, Costa Rica and the world have forgotten about the Caribbean province of Limon. Few locals I have met in the capital or on the Pacific Coast have traveled here. Many foreigners don’t even know that Costa Rica has a Caribbean side.

Grand View’s developer bought this land many years ago. You couldn’t buy this land today, at current prices, and sell lots this low. Today you could pay $30 a meter for land close by - outside a gated community. Here, with the 10% discount, prices start at $10.80 a meter.

Pathfinder is in the business of recommending a wide range of real estate and relocation services from developers and lawyers to real estate agents and tax specialists, to name but a few. Pathfinder requires developers to meet basic criteria before bringing them to you. However, any vetting we do on projects or professionals should not be construed as a guarantee by Pathfinder. Remember, the value of your real estate purchase can go down as well as up; there are no guarantees that property values will rise.

Pathfinder is not responsible for the management or delivery of chill weekends. We bring these to you for informational purposes on behalf of our developer and broker partners. As with any other overseas trip, we advise that you purchase travel insurance. We always recommend strongly that buyers perform their own complete due diligence, use a qualified legal professional to help with real estate transactions and purchase title insurance. Should a reader decide to purchase a property from one of the developers/real estate agents Pathfinder covers, Pathfinder will receive a fee from the developer or real estate agent.
